Primary, Intermediate, and Colleges in the Lower Hutt region were invited to submit proposals for special project's that could benefit from a $10,000 grant.
Three finalists have been chosen, and it's now time for the community to vote for their favourite project.
Voting runs 14-28 August 2025, via Queensgate's website and at our Customer Service desk.
The project with the *most votes wins the $10,000!
The finalists:
Wainuiomata Intermediate School
PROJECT: Establish a Pa Harakeke with different varieties and specialisation of flax to serve as a metaphor for whanau but also be a resource for their Pūtaiao/Science department for use in producing various applications derived from the harakeke. This space will also attract native fauna like tui, piwakawaka and native bees.
Epuni School
PROJECT: Creation of two large, vibrant school murals. Murals to be co-designed and painted by a small group of students giving them structured opportunities to work closely with a teacher in a safe, positive space to teach and reinforce positive social and art building skills.
Naenae Intermediate School
PROJECT: Redevelopment of their largest play space. They would like to create an inviting area that offers a variety of seating, shade, even playing surfaces and marked courts to enable use for fitness, games, learning, outdoor school events and free play at morning tea and lunchtimes.
*Votes will be pro-rated throughout the promotional period based on each School’s roll size to ensure a fair and equitable comparison.
